Title A name given to the resource La muraglia del Giau Description An account of the resource Quante storie può raccontare un semplice sasso ? Semplice camminata per visitare la Muraglia del Giau. Un tuffo nel passato. Per 5 secoli Ampezzani e Sanvitesi si contesero i pascoli del Giau. Nel 1753, si pervenne ad un accordo tra i rappresentanti dell’impero Austriaco e dalla Repubblica di Venezia. Con esso si dava ragione a San Vito, ma si stabiliva anche che i Sanvitesi avrebbero dovuto costruire una barriera per il bestiame entro un termine stabilito, pena la perdita del diritto di proprietà sui pascoli. I sanvitesi costruirono la muraglia nel tempo stabilito; fino al 1918 la muraglia, in questa zona di Giau - Formin, tracciava anche l'antico confine di stato. Percorrendo il tratto di Strada Statale n. 638 che collega la frazione di Pocol con il Passo Giau e passato il Ponte di Rucurto, a quota 1.838 metri circa si incontrano i ruderi della Muraglia di Giau che si estendeva dal Becco Muraglia (2.271 m) fino alle Crepe de Formin. Da qui si sale a piedi affiancando i resti della muraglia che a tratti sono mimetizzati nel terreno. A un certo punto si trova il cippo confinario n. 8, protetto da una recinzione ed eretto su una grossa pietra, chiamata Sasso Rosso protetta da teli protettivi. Il Sasso Rosso è di fondamentale importanza storica e archeologica. Ha costituito fin dal XIV secolo uno dei pochi punti rintracciabili in maniera univoca indicante il confine, ora inglobato dal Muro. Probabilmente, prima del 1753, doveva emergere visibilmente dal pascolo chiamato Pian de la Saleres. Sul Sasso Rosso sono state catalogate molte incisioni o gruppi di incisioni, da qui l’interesse storico e archeologico. Gli studi di questi segni sono stati svolti dal centro di Studi Preistorici della Valcamonica e dall’Università di Padova. Le incisioni presenti sul sasso necessitano del supporto interpretativo degli archeologi. Sul sasso rosso, si può rilevare come il settore maggiormente istoriato sia quello sanvitese, tuttavia anche sul lato ampezzano si ritrovano segni significativi. Le croci, date e sigle incise su pietre o rocce sono molto presenti in tutto l’arco alpino, assumendo in genere una valenza specifica per la storia locale. Le rocce lungo i torrenti Bordina e Tegnas, raccontano di un mare tropicale dove si depositavano sabbie e limi e antichi vulcani sottomarini effondevano lave e ceneri. È difficile oggi immaginare come, un tempo, la ripida parete delle Pale di San Lucano costituisse una scogliera corallina! I sedimenti di questo mare, nel corso di milioni di anni, durante l'avvicinamento delle due placche tettoniche dell'Africa e dell'Europa, si sono piegati, spostati e impilati, dando origine a quelle che tutti noi oggi conosciamo come Dolomiti. Quando salta la luce, e non è solo questione di accendere una candela dentro casa o mettere un foglio con scritto ufficio guasto... ma si ferma tutto, i frighi, la caldaia del formaggio, la mungitrice che non puoi nemmeno lavare, le schede del controller che si bruciano e lavori tutto a mano col fornello, si, dopo aver svuotato e predisposto tutto, sempre al buio... il gruppo elettrogeno c'è ma è in casa e invece ti serve in stalla, bisogna prenderne due, anzi 3 uno anche per il laboratorio. E intanto gli sbalzi di corrente avvengono mentre stai correndo avanti e indietro e quindi sei fritto. E qua succede spesso. Esci e ti fai la strada nella neve, corri dai cuccioli spazientiti che aspettano solo il latte e se ne fregano di tutte queste vicende umane che ti hanno fatto ritardare mezz'ora se va bene. Poi tocca alle mamme, a cui basta la razione di fieno, essere pulite e munte, e con loro parli, interagisci, ti scaldi, loro sono caldissime e glielo dico sempre. E anche loro se ne fregano di cosa hai fatto prima arrivare lì. Basta che tu ci sia, il resto solo normalissima realtà. Ad accompagnarli anche il Matazin, ma la vera protagonista del corteo è la Gnaga, un’anziana signora ingobbita con gli zoccoli in legno, che trasporta una gerla dove comodamente riposa un baldo giovine. Title A name given to the resource Escursione all'eremo dei Romiti Description An account of the resource Passeggiata all'Eremo dei Romiti (Domegge di Cadore) Si accede solo a piedi da una strada forestale, oppure da due sentieri di cui uno, il più frequentato, allestito con le stazione della via Crucis. Sentiero 347. Si supera un dislivello di circa 460 m. con una pendenza media del 22%. L'Eremo dei Romiti è la testimonianza dell'unico convento esistito in Cadore, sorge sul Monte Froppa nel comune di Domegge di Cadore. Fu edificato nel 1720, mentre la chiesa, dedicata a S. Giovanni, è datata 1724. L’eremo ospitò alcuni frati francescani dell'ordine dei Terziari e fu fondato dal frate Giovanni Maria Pinazza di Domegge. La vita sul monte Froppa era regolata da disposizioni ben definite, secondo regole che si ispiravano all’Ordine Francescano. Nel 1810, per decreto napoleonico, la comunità dei Romiti venne soppressa e il convento e la chiesa furono abbandonati. Il sito, caduto in abbandono, si è fortemente degradato. Nel 2007 il Comune di Domegge di Cadore lo ha restaurato a fini turistico culturali. L’Eremo, eretto in posizione isolata e con un significativo dislivello dal fondo valle, era nato per finalità spirituali. Oggi, dopo il recupero funzionale, costituisce un punto di approdo turistico.
