<strong>ADATTAMENTI AD ALTA QUOTA<br /></strong>Ambienti con caratteristiche estreme ed instabili sono difficili da colonizzare. Non tutti pertanto sono adatti all’alta quota: ce ne vuole di tempo per sentirsi a casa tra neve e ghiaccio, vento e sbalzi termici, sole cocente e sassi in caduta libera. Ma qualcuno ce la fa. Chi? E come? Scopriamolo! Ma non dimentichiamoci il paesaggio, anche la geomorfologia infatti influenza le tipologie di habitat con le quali piante ed animali interagiscono.<br /><br /><strong>ADAPTING TO HIGH ALTITUDE<br /></strong>It is hard to settle in places with extreme and unstable conditions. Not everyone is suited to life at high altitude; it takes time to adapt to the snow and ice, the wind and the temperature changes, the scorching sun and the falling rocks. But some people manage it. Who are they? And how do they do it? Let's find out! But we mustn't ignore the landscape: the geomorphology of the area also conditions the habitat with which the plants and animals interact.<br /><br /><strong>ANPASSUNG AN HÖHENBEDINGUNGEN<br /></strong>Umgebungen mit extremen und unbeständigen Merkmale sind schwer zu besiedeln. Sie sind daher nicht jedermanns Sache: Es braucht Zeit, um sich zwischen Schnee und Eis, Wind und Temperatursprüngen, sengender Sonne und herabfallenden Steinen wie zu Hause zu fühlen. Doch so mancher schafft die Anpassung. Wer? Und wie? Lass es uns herausfinden! <strong>AI MIEI TEMPI</strong><br />"Ai miei tempi" è un’espressione che abbiamo sentito pronunciare spesso dai nostri nonni con sguardo assorto. I loro racconti ci fanno fare un balzo in una realtà a noi in parte sconosciuta dove il tempo era scandito dalle stagioni, dal sorgere e tramontare del sole, dal canto degli uccelli. Le giornate trascorrevano lente, tra una fatica e l'altra, con il pensiero di cosa mettere in tavola o di cercare qualche stratagemma per risparmiare, riciclare e non buttare via niente. Erano tempi diversi, si, resi un po' più vicini dalla particolare situazione che stiamo vivendo.<br />
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><strong>BACK IN MY DAY</strong><br /></span><span class="s1">"Back in my day" is an expression often used by our grandparents when they're thinking about the past. Their stories take us back to a reality we hardly recognise, when time was marked out by the passing of the seasons, the rising and setting of the sun, and the singing of the birds. The days passed slowly and with great exertion, worrying about what could be put on the table, or looking for ways to save or recycle things rather than throw them away. Those were certainly different times, but perhaps our current situation has brought them rather closer.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><strong>ZU MEINER ZEIT</strong><br /></span><span class="s1">„Zu meiner Zeit“ ist ein Ausdruck, den wir oft von unseren Großeltern mit träumenden Augen sagen hören. Ihre Geschichten gewähren uns einen Einblick in eine für uns teilweise unbekannte Realität, in der die Zeit von den Jahreszeiten, dem Sonnenauf- und -untergang und dem Gesang der Vögel geprägt war. Die Tage verstrichen langsam, zwischen einer harten Arbeit und der nächsten, mit der Sorge um das tägliche Brot oder auf der Suche nach Strategien, um irgendwie zu sparen, zu recyceln und ja nichts zu verschwenden. Es war eine andere Zeit, die wir vielleicht gerade jetzt etwas leichter nachempfinden können. <br /><br /><a href="http://patrimonio.museodolom.it/exhibits/show/dolomitesmuseum/differentimes/ai-miei-tempi-">INDIETRO - BACK - ZURÜCK</a><br /></span></p>

<strong>ATTRAVERSAMENTI</strong><br />Non importa quanto alte e rocciose siano le Dolomiti: uomini e donne hanno sempre trovato il modo di attraversarle. Anzi, i modi, perché ne sono stati scoperti più d’uno, a seconda delle esigenze. Ci sono le strade asfaltate che tagliano i passi e la Grande Strada delle Dolomiti, certo, ma ci sono anche le Alte Vie che seguono i sentieri nel bosco e costeggiano le torri di roccia, i sentieri (troi) per l’andata e la discesa dal pascolo, le strade militari e le “vie” del legname tagliato d’inverno. Quella della mobilità in montagna è, insomma, una storia fatta di tante storie, nelle quali i grandi eventi, i cambiamenti sociali, il turismo antico e quello contemporaneo nonché le piccole economie quotidiane si incrociano e si accavallano senza soluzione di continuità.<br />
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><strong>CROSSINGS</strong><br /></span><span class="s1">No matter how high and rocky the Dolomites, men and women have always found a way to get across them. Rather, we should say "ways", because they used different routes and methods according to need. There are of course the metalled roads that cut through the passes, and the Great Dolomite Road. But there are also the High Trails that follow paths through the woods and skirt rocky towers, the paths (troi) for going up and down from the high pastures, the military roads, and the "streets" created when felling winter timber. So, the history of travelling through the mountains is made up of many stories; with great events, social changes, historic and modern tourism, and small everyday dealings all connecting and overlapping in a seamless way.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><strong><span class="s1">ÜBERSCHREITUNGEN<br /></span></strong><span class="s1">Egal wie hoch und felsig die Dolomiten sind: Männer und Frauen haben immer einen Weg gefunden, sie zu überqueren. Und vielfach waren es gleich mehrere Wege, die entdeckt und genutzt wurden - je nach Erfordernis. Asphaltierte Straßen führen über Pässe, die Große Dolomitenstraße gewährt einzigartige Einblicke in die Landschaft, aber daneben gibt es auch Höhenwege durch den Wald und vorbei an eindrucksvollen Felstürmen, und die so genannten «Troi» (Saumwege) zur Erschließung der Weiden, gleich wie Militärstraßen und die Forstwege für die Holzbringung im Winter. Mobilität am Berg steht somit für eine Geschichte, die sich aus vielen Geschichten zusammensetzt, in denen sich große Ereignisse, soziale Veränderungen, der Tourismus von einst und jetzt und die tägliche Bewirtschaftung von kleinsten Räumen nahtlos kreuzen und überschneiden.<br /><br /><a href="http://patrimonio.museodolom.it/exhibits/show/dolomitesmuseum/beyondthepass/attraversamentibis">INDIETRO - BACK - ZURÜCK </a></span></p>

<strong>IL TEMPO E I MODI PER MISURARLO</strong><br />La fisica ci dice che il tempo, sulla Terra, è uno, ma la nostra esperienza ci dice che sono tanti: cambia a seconda delle persone, degli stati d’animo e dei diversi momenti della nostra vita. In questa galleria abbiamo catturato quattro modi di scandire il tempo nelle Dolomiti: il tempo dettato dal sole, quello ritmato dall’acqua, quello domato dalla meccanica e il tempo contemporaneo che ci spinge ad andare sempre più veloci.<br />
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><strong>TIME AND WAYS TO MEASURE IT</strong><br /></span><span class="s1">Physics tells us that there is one kind of time on Earth, but our experience tells us that there are many. Time varies for different people, and according to your mood and what is happening in your life. This photo gallery shows four ways of marking time in the Dolomites: time as regulated by the sun, time in tune with water, time controlled by mechanisms, and our current time that pushes us faster and faster.</span></p>
